Monument Sign for United Methodist Church

Monument Sign for United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks wasn’t just looking for a new sign—they were looking for a way to express who they are. Located on a busy corner in the heart of Thousand Oaks, the church wanted something that didn’t just say where they were, but what they stood for. Their previous sign had simply faded into the background—quiet, generic, and not reflective of the warm, welcoming, and mission-driven community inside. That’s where Sig Signs came in.

The Challenge

The church wanted to create a better first impression—one that matched the heart and spirit of their community. This wasn’t just about visibility. It was about sharing a message before anyone even stepped through the doors. They needed a monument sign that would feel inviting and grounded, clear in purpose, and designed to last. And it had to reflect something deeper than just a name—it had to represent Love, Growth, and Service.

The Solution

Before we ever sketched a design, we listened. We wanted to understand what the church wanted people to feel the moment they saw the sign. It became clear that their mission statement—LOVE • GROW • SERVE—was more than a slogan. It was the center of who they are. So we made it the centerpiece of the sign.

We designed a monument sign that feels calm and confident. Soft, natural tones blend with the building’s architecture, while the stone base adds warmth and permanence. The bold, color-highlighted mission words immediately tell you what this place is all about. And from its position on the property, the sign is just as easy to spot by foot as it is from the street.

What We Focused On

  • Message First – Every design choice came from the church’s values. We weren’t just making it look good—we were making it meaningful.
  • Real-World Readability – We picked typography and colors that would stay clear in daylight, shade, or motion. It works from the road and up close.
  • Materials That Last – This is California. Heat, dust, sun—we chose finishes and materials that can handle it all and still look sharp.
  • Built to Belong – The stonework and color palette were chosen to complement the church’s architecture, so the sign feels like it’s always been there.

Key Features

  • Dimensional lettering that spells out the full church name
  • Mission-centered tagline: LOVE • GROW • SERVE in bold, vibrant color
  • Lower panel highlighting the church’s partnership with Westminster Free Clinic
  • Natural stone base that grounds the design and adds texture
  • Fully compliant with city regulations

The Impact

The new monument sign has quickly become a source of pride. It doesn’t shout—it welcomes. It tells a story. It reflects the church’s presence in the community and adds real character to the property. Members love the new look, and visitors often say the sign is what made them stop and take a second look.

What It’s Delivered

  • A stronger presence in the neighborhood
  • Clear, values-driven messaging
  • More engagement from passersby and first-time guests
  • A long-lasting sign that feels as thoughtful as the church itself

This project is a reminder that great signage isn’t just about being seen—it’s about being understood. At Sig Signs, we help organizations bring their message to life, one carefully crafted sign at a time.
