In the heart of Westlake Village, the Yarrow Family YMCA is more than just a fitness center—it’s a central hub for families, volunteers, students, and neighbors. Every day, people walk through its doors for everything from swimming lessons and youth programs to community support services. So when we had the opportunity to help refresh their exterior signage, we knew it wasn’t just about improving visibility—it was about reinforcing presence.
The YMCA brand is instantly recognizable, but it still has to communicate clearly in each local context. The challenge at Yarrow was to create signage that stood out on a large brick building without overpowering it. It needed to feel grounded in place while remaining consistent with the visual language of the YMCA system. The signs also had to serve practical needs: be visible from the street, hold up over time, and offer clarity at all times of day.
Our team developed clean, bold building signage featuring the YMCA’s iconic “Y” logo and full facility name. The signage was built to match the scale and layout of the building façade, ensuring balance and legibility from a distance. It was installed with durable materials suited for exterior use—designed to stay strong in both sunlight and rain, without losing clarity or sharpness over time.
Today, the signage does what it was meant to do: it welcomes, informs, and reinforces identity. Whether you’re arriving for a class, picking up your child from a program, or just walking by, the building now reflects the energy and importance of the organization inside. It’s more than a name on a wall—it’s a sign that this place matters.
Working on a project like this is a reminder that the best signage doesn’t just serve a building—it serves a community. We’re proud to have contributed to a space that supports, connects, and uplifts so many people, every single day.
